If you find yourself in a similar situation, I highly recomend listening to it; is comfterble enough to lull your mind while you are listening, while also being a wonderfull album in it's own right worthy of more attention than this sleep deprived boy can muster up right now. Anyway Good night to you all I'm going to try and get a bit more sleep -sleep well.

I have a marvelous solution:
I shall buy a jumpsuit and tie dye it! Acid green and neon pink it shall be! I shall truely be the most intensely dressed there!
....although somehow I doubt it- it will be a cool thing if I get round to dyeing it, but there will inevitably be more neonly intensly OTToishly dresssed people. Still it'll be cool so hey-ho!

Not only this, but it also managed to intertwine apt and excellent music and songs throughout.
A very breif summery: 'tis the seventies, things are largely in a dead end, workers are on strike, and the elecricity keeps going. Along comes "Don John" punkish, wild and, sexy. Seducing everyone and leaving a trail of destruction in his wake!
Anyway I highly recommend going to see it plus its free for anyone aged 14-26 such as me!

The most wonderfull thing for me that made the night was during the encore, when all the actors were dancing, me and a housemate stated dancing in one of the isles and were invited onto the stage -much coolness! I wish we'd shown off a bit more on the stage though, or at least taken a bow. Still I'm verry proud to say I danced in front of over a hundred people tonight

Its all rather wonderful- also after having lost my keys a few days ago I haver finally sorted out a new bikelock, so I may cycle again! <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">
Cycling in the snow, can be a bit unstable however is also immensely satisfying! It helps that I've also manged to find the perfect tape- one side has «Belle an Sebastian» and the flipside is Morcheba -excellent!

A brief account of what it's like:
Cycling through my local park, I look around and there is this amazing white landscape, while the falling snow makes it impossible to see the city around- the refrains of «Belle an Sebastian» coo gently in my ear, while the wind whips countless feathers of snow past me, against me and all around me- the world slowly becomes whiter and whiter, all enveloping in this soft cold cocoon- then I reaalise that the snow has built up on my glasses and its not as thick as all that. Its still impressive, especially for the UK.

Oooh I forgotte to mension- I got to sled to uni the other day! -admitidly it was only a short part of the way, but still!

The bandstand in my local park:

Also to give you an idea of how much snow there was- later on when I was cycling on proper roads, I almost fell off my bike as I hit the edge of a speedbump as it was submerged in snow- not visible on the surface! and due to the snow verry slippy!

--edit--
OK I just read through that and realised how badly written it is- so I've made one or two minor changes, but I'm tied, and just wanted to put something new up to celebrate the snow...

Apparently having the MMR jab doesn't completely protect you, it just meens that you don't get the full blown symptoms- still I had the puffy face et
all... Also I'd had the misfortune of leaving my pasport with my parents in London, and having no photo id. with me, meant it was impossible to sign up with a GP -curses!
You wouldn't believe how hard it is to see a doctor without id! I went into a drop in centre in the the centre of town, but the only people who could see me were nurses, who said they thought it was mumps, but couldn't officially classify it so I had to try and find another doctor- After being told to endlessly go to different places, to no avail- eventualy we were recomended to go to A&E So I made my way down there (in the mid morning so I wouldn't interfere with more serious cases) And although they confirmed it and gave advice- due to the nature of the ward they couldn't report the outbreak- still it was better than nothing I'm all signed up now- but it seems ridiculous that A&E is the only place I could go, which clearly shouldn't be having to deal with that sort of thing -anyway thats my rant for today

its quite big, but its warm & comfortable <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">
Also I have aquired a huge toffie crisp over a kilo in weight which was leftover from a party I was at last night (some peeps made it for the novelty- although they've done better thing like a giant kitkat) anyway hardly any of it was eaten so I'm slowly carving away at it wit a knife -yum yum!

I had volenteered to put up posters for a fasion show (hopefully enough tickets will be sold ) However the master copy that I'm photocopying from & the photocopyer I can use for free are in a room that will not be opened untill 11.00 halfway through my lecture... & the reception's best advice was 'wait' -bleh

Anyway if I have time, I'll try & get it done later.

On the bright side, my walkman has suddenly decided to work again! Hurrah! So lots of listening is happening I've also just recieved a CD that I got one of my housemates to order for me: 'King of the bongo' by mano negra -tis good! Luckily today my house has been relitively warm -I've also invested in some fingerless glove, so that I can type/write in my room without getting frozen hands. I've also set up a 'kotasu' like arrangement with radiator & my table so my legs are warm! Before my radiator had no effect on my room so its definitely an improvement!
D*mn my house is freezing! I sleep under a duvet & 6 blankets & I'm still chilly at night! Even with the heating it is only vaugely wrm while it's turned on -once it's off its soon icy again! At least our frontroom is warm -I suppose I shouldn't complain..

horrible internet access -& it hasn't been able to connect most of the time, however one of my housemates put ubuntu on mi computer, which seems to have sorted out the connection problems I was having <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">

Anyways now onto the more serious buisness of writing this blog:
Firstly I must announce that the squid bag is finished, but photos areyet to come. I have also had a haircut *shock horror!* from just below shoulder length to now this long:

but it wasn't as much of a shock as you might expect, as I cut it from below waistlenth to a short bob at the begining of the summer- still its the first time I've had short hair since I was about 12....
--edit--
I thought it might amuse you to know that the haircut intended was meant to be a floppy, "not quite emo but in that ilk" sort of haircut, but ass my hair is too thick it simply refuses to flop -I'm not actually so sure thats a bad thing ^^ Also its the 1st time I've ever been into a proper hairdressers that I can remember- I've always had friends or parents cut it before this!
--end of edit--
Anyways here's the tune I think you should all listen to; unfortunately I have it not on tape, but it's a d*mn good song ^^

Also on the subject of tapes, my walkman has partialy died & won't play properly but we've got a fairly good tape player in the front room of me house so all is groovy

Xx

I have to say I still cant get over how sweet it is! its about 8 inches from front to back when closed &has a 7 inch screen- the keyboard's a bit on the small side, but I type fairly slowly, so its not such a big deal. The only issue is that it doesn't have terribly much memory(4G, so I'm going to try & save as much as I can to USB- however aside from music the only things I'm likely to store on it are word documents, so not too much space taken up there. It's portable, its cute, I can type up work on it & peruse the internet with it- it does everything I need -in short I <3 mi eeepc!
Oh also I thought I might mention that I'm typing this on coach, which is an interesting experience for me as I've never used a computer on the move but it seems easy enough to do & surprisingly I haven't got travel sick!
On other matters I'm on my way back from London as I went home to see an exhibition by my mother at “Francis' hair fashions gallery”
Its a bit odd going home only two weeks after moving out, but I felt that it was an important occasion & would be silly to miss it! I think the oddest thing was meeting up with one of my friends in the day, as it was only when I was saying good bye to her that I felt like I'd really moved out of home I think its the most emotional I've felt about the whole moving out thing.... On a lighter note I'm brining my squid bag up to Birmingham with me so it should be finished fairly soon (only need to add eyes & a strap ^^ ooh & also I mi9ght get a piece in an eco/humanitarian fashion show, despite having relatively little to do with the fashion world (I'm studying chemistry!) Anyways we'll see how that goes -if I get something together in time hopefully all will be fruitfull- I thi9nk I'll probably make a shawl, hat & bag set, but then again I'll see how I do for time.

PS. does anyone know any good fabric shops in south Birmingham?

At rest

Ok its not a conventional steam engine; but it works <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">
The device is what is known as an æolipile (or hero's engine) & basicly works by propelling itself around on two jets of steam.
-As the water heats up it produces steam, this the causes pressure to build up & so the steam is forced out the nozzles on either side of the tin. As it leaves this literaly blows the device round!

Anyways to cut a long story short chanced upon a mysterious tin of drink labled "nostalgia drink" within the shop- my curiosity got the better of me & I was obliged to buy it- well here are some pictures of the tin for first impressions

& now for the stylish pose

OK... well nostalgia drink tastes a lot like cinnamon...but not quite, I think theres just a smigion of childhood dreams in there, with just a pinch of old memorys -which gives it an almost slightly musty taste... Either way if you have 65p & are feeling in a mood to reminisce I'd definitely recommend a tin!

Also here's a picture of the sweet shop for your delectation:

I was a bit embarrassed about taking the pic. so I was hiding behind a display when I took it- subsequently it's not the best shot ever... the shop looks much cooler when you're actually in it!

Pt2 of the post

I need help

How does one go about adding a blog roll to the blog- when I try to edit the design it won't let me drag anything into or out of any of the columns- help!

when I left my house I was feeling a bit melancholic, & put on some Serge to pander to my mood- There seemed to be a bit of Pathetic falacy going on as the light made the colours seem slightly subdued giving an almost sepia feel... the way everything seemed so complimentary cheered me up a bit, especialy as my bicycle wouldn't be too out of place in a similar film noir setting!

Anyways -got to party 'twas enjoyable..but a bit subdued -left early as have to go to work early tomorrow (why am I writing this post then?)

Return journey- put on serge again, now complimented by the yellowish glow of the street lights. Drifted along on my bicycle musing about different things; felling guilty that I haven't written to my penpall for about a month -actually I feel realy bad about that, but my life has been so mad & I've got tons to write about, but I want to sit down & do a good job on it not rush it. Still I'll probably have some time on saturday as I'm off to Birmingham in the afternoon so I wont be doing anything in the morning...
Cycled across the common, tryed to have a conversation with a fox- but he just looked back puzzled (evidently he doesn't speak french, although mine isn't great so that might have been part of it Also he was rather a hansome looking one, not like some of the mangy ones you often get!)
`Then II realised my leson for the evening- don't hug people wearing too much glitter it is contagious! my arms have been peppered with glitter! -I don't mind a tiny bit of it on my cheeks at partys, but going home, especialy early- I'm not so keen on it. -Learn from my mistakes dear friends!
Got to the end of the common tape finished, turned it over & listened to the Housemartins for the rest of my journey- got in, fed cat, brushed teath, wrote blog, going to bed

-night night!

The journy home is the more important part; but firstly I must explain some of the background setting
Firstly I recently bought a walkman so I've been listening to all my/my parents old tapes
Secondly I have points when I know I'm not astute & am inclined not to be in a terribly good way, but it's something I live with: I make sure I don't drink (if at all) as I'll end up having too much, I also make sure I'm a bit more careful in general

Anyway I was cycling back along the pavement as I have no lights & am tired -I have a kraftwerk tape playing in one ear, the other has no earphone so I can hear the cars- which is odd as usualy if I strain my ears I can hear the gentle background sound- but not today, there's the odd car slipping past but the rest sounds quieter tonight. I peadal on in the lights of the street I spot the occasional drunk & one or two other people, but it's pretty empty as far as main roads go- I trundle on the beat of kraftwerk becomes almost zenlike as I drift along. I stop peddling for a moment just enjoying the road glittering past in a galaxy of glass stars throwing reflected street light back up at me. I bump down onto the road, the motes of glowing light are fantastic throwing up an auror -I glide over them imagining myself disconected from all of mankind floating high above the sky. A car approaching brings me back from my lofty heights as it whisks past I think it wise not to ascend such flights of fancy for my own road saftey.
I cycle on fairly uneventfully I turn of the main road & start to wind back to my house through the smaler side streets -glancing up I spot an insect for a split second, illuminated in a halo of light I think that it is wonderful to be that beautiful if only for the admiration of a nighttime cyclist- I'm rather jealous of the insect. I cycle on, hop of my bike & go to unlock my front door- the first key I use doesn't seem to work then I realise its the wrong one- I then open the door using the right ones- my tape player clicks as the tape ends, what perfect timing how nice

Next of all the most important bit; the squid:

This is from a mosaic at the bottom of a fountain outside the town hall in Oslo -it may also be noted that my foot is n the picture, however I cropped it down as I look rather stupid in it & don't wish for everyone to see a bad picture of my face- ooh how vain I am!

I have to mention quite how impressed I was with the Oslo town hall -it had the appearance of some kind of constructivist gothic cathedral! Theres a short article on it in wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oslo_City_Hall but it really doesn't do it justice The Fram is also worth seeing if you're around there, as well as the Munch museum, but I can't comment on too much else, as we were only there for a day & didn't manage to see much more than that :/

Anyway a photo of some of the carving around the town hall (again more of a vanity immage than anything else:

Thats all for now, but in the mean time here's a taster for the next installment:

--edit--
I've suddenly thought of something I meant to mention before, but forgotte to:
Is there a male equivalent of cat ladies?
I wouldn't ask only I was having a conversation with a friend about how we were both going to turn into crazy old cat ladies at some point & trying to work out who would get there first! however it hit a snag, it would be far harder for me to win as I can't technically be a lady without rather invasive surgery- a process which I should rather avoid. To be honest its a semantic triviality, but I'm genuinely wondering if there is a commonly perceived male equivalent?

Its been a while since I last wrote, but not without good reason!
As mentioned in the previous post I have been to Norway <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0"> & have been fussing over result related things for the last few days (parties phoning up unis etc.) ...anyway I was rather bemused by my results- I had studied exeptionaly hard for chemistry, pretty much at the expense of all other subjects however....I managed to get a 'd'.
As you can tell I'm not terribly pleased with that -I practicaly learnt how to revise purely for that exam & then to get that result was most vexing! However all is not as bad as it seems; in my other two subjects (Philosophy & archæoIogy) I got both B's which on roughly 3 hours if revision in total apeice isn't too rotten... I also got a E in Biology, but that doesn't realy count as I was going to drop it, but decided not to, as I still found the subject interesting- subsiquently I went to class mainly out of interest, but did hardly anyhing besides for the course (save some areas far out beyond reaches of the sylabus)
Back on subject I have a place at Birmingham for foundation chemistry, but due to my rather rotten grade, I'm seeing if I can transfer to philosophy.

As for Norway most of the retelling of that is waiting on me getting photographs to illistrate it!
Lastly the big squid is almost done so should be posted within the week.

Cheers & lots of luv to everyone

Also I saw Batman today- it is one of the best films I've seen in a long time, although I fear I may have left with something verging on a slight crush on the joker- ewww! Anyway if anyone wants a review I'd point them in the direction of this blog: http://nerdygirl.blog.co.uk/2008/07/23/movieview-the-dark-night-4488225 as it does it far more justice than I could!

Also bye for now everyone, I doubt I'll have anything to write about tomorrow & on Saturday I'm off to Norway at 4 in the morning! Also just to keep some last vestiges of interest in this blog, I will confide that there is another larger squid in the pipeline- its currently just about a meter & a half long, but I need to remake the body, so the final size is yet to be decided & 3ish weeks away.

Oh & wish me luck- A level results are out the day I get back

Right I'm off to Norway -hip hip horray! I'm going to stay with mi godmother in a set of huts in the middle of nowhere, but it will be gorgeous & lots of fun & free of clammy weather! Anyway that means that it is unlikely that this blog will be updated in this time (not that it would be anyway) but still hurrah! ok thats my celebration/boasting done....

....Now onto more interesting things

I made a knitted bag, regardez si vous plais:

The outside- the wool is a more dull red, but the flash made it look more bright than it is.

So that you may see thing inside of it.

ooh isn't the lining so lovely! (yep the stiching is terrible I know, but I was kinda lazy with that...)

Anyway the story behind it- it started out life as a scarf, but it was too fat so I finished it early to save on wool. Then I decided to make a bag form it, as a birthday present for a friend. Started a few days later...put it down ...forgotte about it...6 months later "damn I forgotte!" finish making it & give it as a very belated present oh well!

  Comments

Hurrah for dionysian wonders!

This is only going to be a short post- I've decided that once my A levels are over (in roughly a week) I shall embrace the Dionysian in full, & dance on the edge of oblivion! I shall peer right into its face & laugh & laugh at how wonderfull it all is! My freinds the world is wonderful, dont forget it, regardless of how bad things get! So dance & dance as the world goes on by & look at its wonder, look at its beauty & let go of everything except the beautiful & wonderful!

Anywayback to revision I will laugh all through my exam because the world is wonderfull- Hurrah!

anyway I just find it rather odd 'cause thats one of the things I try to keep fairly far out of my blog, as there are a thousand places you can go on the internet to find out about people's misfortunes & depression. I am liable to get into a rather dark state of mind sometimes, but if I am to talk about it (if at all), this is probably the least wise place to do it & to be honest its not something that I suffer too greatly from now save the occasional fall from grace into complete oblivion... but thats not most of the time <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">

I suppose it's probably a good outlet for some peeps to be depressed on?

Anyways onto more important matters, I've been reading Dorian Grey & decided that I am quite taken with lord henry, but have noticed rather strong similarities between us both- a love for hedonism, preferring interesting people who are interesting & unfaithfull over those who are faithfull & lead pleasant monotonus lives! (not to mension both having slightly more than adequate egos...) Although having said that I think this is only true for real life, as in books & anime & films I prefer mundane lives where everything is of interest.
Talking of which I've descovered a new anime called 'Strawberry Marshmallow' which is so unbelievably wonderfull- it is a perfect blend of everydayness, coupled with the crazy everyday suprises for a 12yr old & just a smigion of glominess & the potential for nihilism from their older sister- but she is so lovely & always buoyed up by their antics that it becomes absolutely perfect! <3

Will anyone read this? I hope so, but if not -oh well, have a nice day <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">
