To give a brief overview of the excursion before I get into full swing; It was a family holiday as I'm leaving at the end of the summer- the route was to take a ferry to Holland & then drive round through Germany Denmark & Sweden until we arrived in the middle of Norway to stay with my godmother in a set of cabins belonging to her!

Next of all the most important bit; the squid:
Squid squid!
This is from a mosaic at the bottom of a fountain outside the town hall in Oslo -it may also be noted that my foot is n the picture, however I cropped it down as I look rather stupid in it & don't wish for everyone to see a bad picture of my face- ooh how vain I am!

I have to mention quite how impressed I was with the Oslo town hall -it had the appearance of some kind of constructivist gothic cathedral! Theres a short article on it in wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oslo_City_Hall but it really doesn't do it justice The Fram is also worth seeing if you're around there, as well as the Munch museum, but I can't comment on too much else, as we were only there for a day & didn't manage to see much more than that :/

Anyway a photo of some of the carving around the town hall (again more of a vanity immage than anything else:
oslo & me

Thats all for now, but in the mean time here's a taster for the next installment:

--edit--
I've suddenly thought of something I meant to mention before, but forgotte to:
Is there a male equivalent of cat ladies?
I wouldn't ask only I was having a conversation with a friend about how we were both going to turn into crazy old cat ladies at some point & trying to work out who would get there first! however it hit a snag, it would be far harder for me to win as I can't technically be a lady without rather invasive surgery- a process which I should rather avoid. To be honest its a semantic triviality, but I'm genuinely wondering if there is a commonly perceived male equivalent?
